Salem Tube is now capable of exceeding the highest customer expectations with the shortest lead times in the industry, thanks to a highly specialized, experienced and motivated workforce.

The focus of this year’s plan is on transforming Maintenance by the extensive use of preventive and proactive action that will help us boost the machine availability of critical equipment, bringing the largest amount of radical improvement projects to a successful and timely closure, in the Gradual Improvement area by mastering the 5S.

5S is an international standard method to improve housekeeping, safety and effectiveness in workplaces by getting rid of unnecessary items, assigning a home for all necessary items, keeping both the workplace, equipment, and machines free of deteriorated elements. The secondary efforts of 5S are to development a sustainable model by developing systematic ways to continue improving and maintaining at a housekeeping level. This directly ties into the overall concept of TxPS by completing one piece of the pie regarding housekeeping and operator level maintenance.

• Kick-off Initial Cleaning Plan and awareness of the operators in their maintenance.
• Implementation of internal and external 5S Audits.

• Extension of 5S to maintenance shop floor.
• Cleaning plans to maintain workplace housekeeping level after initial cleaning.
