A Story of Effort

TUBACEX is an industrial Group founded in 1963 devoted to manufacturing seamless tubes in stainless steel and high-nickel alloys.


The group's Head Office is located in Llodio where it also has industrial facilities, in addition to those located in Amurrio, Arceniega (all three in the province of Alava- Spain), in Ternitz (Austria) in Greenville (Pennsylvania, USA); in Vittuone (Milán) and San Niccolo (Piacenza), both onf them in italy;  in Umbergaon (Gujarat, India) and in Thailand. 

TUBACEX is a company that has made a considerable effort in the modernization of a traditional sector of the iron and steel industry.

2011

TUBACEX receives the SEA-Empresarios Alaveses Award (Alava Entrepreneurs Award) in recognition of the track record and the entrepreneurial commitment of the company and the Internationalization Award granted by the Chamber of Commerce of Álava.
 

2013

TUBACEX celebrates its 50th anniversary.
 

New Strategic Plan which will steer TUBACEX actions over the forthcoming five years, focused on two strategic pillars: the change of the product mix towards higher added value products and operational excellence.

2014

TUBACEX acquires 65% of the italian company IBF, a reputed global supplier of customized tubular solutions for the Oil&Gas and Power Generation sectors.

2015

TUBACEX completes the acquisition of 68% of the seamless stainless steel tubes division of the Indian company Prakash Steelage

2016

TUBACEX signs an agreement to create a joint venture with the Japanese company Awaji Materia to manufacture special stainless steel components at its factory in Thailand

2000

Opening of a Sales Office in Seoul (Korea).

2001

The trading subsidiary Cotubes opens a warehouse in Canada.

2004

Approval of the 2010 TUBACEX Strategic Plan.

2005

Opening of tube distribution warehouses in Indonesia and Shanghai.

2006

Opening of a Sales Office in Sao Paulo (Brazil).

2007

Opening of a Sales Office in Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

2008

Opening of a Sales Office in Moscow (Russia).

2009

Start of OCTG tubes manufacturing at the TTI factory in Amurrio, with new cold-rolling facilities for high value-added products, specialized in tubes for oil and gas exploration and extraction in special alloys.

1992

The company files a suspension of payment (currently an creditors agreement).

1993-1995

Complete reorganization of the company: new organization; specialization in stainless steel tubes; industrial and staff restructuring; creation of industrial subsidiaries; financial restructuring, etc. In 1993, the suspension of payment was swapped for a creditors agreement that would allow them to collect their entire debts. In 1995, the company recorded profit again.

1996

Compañía Española de Tubos por Extrusión S.A.-TUBACEX changes its name for TUBACEX S.A.

1999

TUBACEX acquires the Austrian company Schoeller Bleckmann Edelstahlrohr AG (SBER), with Head Office and industrial facilities in Ternitz and also dedicated to manufacture seamless stainless steel tubes complementary to those provided by TUBACEX.

1983

Opening of a Sales Office in Canada.

1985

Opening of Sales Offices in Italy and France.

1988

Manufacturing of the first seamless stainless steel tube.

1970

The company is listed in the Spanish Stock Market.

1973-1978

An expansion plan is undertaken with the land purchase in the town of Amurrio. New facilities for cold-rolled tube manufacturing and a hot-finishing mill. Setting-up of Acería de Álava S.A. in 1978, so the company can manufacture its own steel and has an integrated production chain: steel manufacturing, hot extrusion and cold-rolling of tubes.

1979

Opening of a Sales Office in The Netherlands.

1963

The company is founded under the name of Tubos Especiales Olarra, dedicated to manufacturing seamless carbon steel tubes and alloyed tubes.

1965

The first tube is manufactured in Llodio on 12 October 1965.

1967

The company changes its name for Compañía Española de Tubos por Extrusión S.A. - TUBACEX.
