At the recent NextGen Conference 2025 in Mumbai, Tubacex underlined its growing role as a strategic partner for the downstream Oil & Gas sector—particularly in petrochemicals and speciality chemicals—through a technical presentation delivered by Shabareesh Nair, Director of Technical Marketing for Asia.
Raising the bar in alloy performance
Nair detailed how the harsher feedstocks and higher-temperature operations now common in refineries require cutting-edge metallurgies. Tubacex showcased field results with Alloy 699 XA®, whose outstanding resistance to metal dusting protects hydrogen, ammonia and methanol units, and with Uremium 29®, the super-duplex grade co-developed with CASALE for the urea industry.
Uptime as the new efficiency metric
Efficiency, he stressed, is measured in operating hours as much as in tonnes produced. Applying Tubacoat®, the company’s proprietary ceramic anti-fouling coating, to refinery furnaces has reduced unplanned shutdowns by up to 40 %, delivering tangible OPEX savings for operators.
India—one of several global manufacturing hubs
To guarantee rapid, local supply of duplex, super-duplex and high-nickel heat-exchanger tubing, Tubacex has established production hubs on three continents. India is a cornerstone of that network, with the Umbargaon mill supporting the Make in India initiative and strengthening supply-chain security for customers such as Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
Full-value-chain solutions for a lower-carbon future
By uniting design, metallurgy, manufacturing and service under one roof, Tubacex now covers the entire energy value chain—from CRA OCTG upstream to advanced solutions that extend asset life in downstream processing. The company’s message in Mumbai was clear: the energy transition is also built from the downstream, through tougher materials, higher efficiency and a safer, lower-carbon industry.
