Llodio, February 1, 2023. TUBACEX has reached a leading position in the world’s most prestigious climate change index drawn up by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), having obtained a score of “A-” for its environmental disclosure, awareness, management and leadership. The score obtained by TUBACEX is above the European average of “B” and the average for the sector, which stands at “C”.

This score highlights its environmental sustainability strategy, the different actions in terms of energy efficiency or its climate risk management model, among others. According to its CEO, Jesús Esmorís, “the participation of TUBACEX in this initiative, along with its global environmental sustainability plan demonstrates the company’s commitment to the environment and the fight against climate change”.

In recent years, TUBACEX has reinforced the Company with a clear intention of becoming a key player in energy transition and the promotion of a decarbonized model. In December 2020, it signed the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) commitment letter with an ambition level of 1.5º and a Net Zero commitment by 2050. In 2021, the company participated in CDP Climate for the first time, obtaining a score of “B”. This Climate Change Index by the Carbon Disclosure Project, a non-profit organization, has become the worldwide benchmark in disclosure processes and methodology related to climate change and companies.

The company will continue to work on its climate roadmap to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions (areas 1 and 2) by 60% by 2030, boost renewable sources of energy, more efficient waste management or its commitment within the supply chain.
