Bilbao November 3rd 2025. Tubacex, a global leader in advanced industrial solutions for the energy and mobility sectors, has been honored with the Petrobras Best Suppliers Award in its 8th edition, in the category “Tubulares de Produção e Revestimento (OCTG)”, during the official ceremony held today at OTC Brasil 2025 in Rio de Janeiro.

This award recognizes the technical, operational, and collaborative excellence demonstrated by Tubacex Group in advanced tubular solutions for the upstream sector. The accolade marks another milestone in consolidating Tubacex as an end-to-end partner to Petrobras, with a value proposition that goes far beyond product supply.

Over the past decade, Tubacex has established a comprehensive, tailored collaboration model with Petrobras that spans every phase of a project’s lifecycle, from early engineering through field support. This partnership approach has been decisive to the success of operations conducted in highly complex offshore reservoirs, Búzios and Mero.

In the engineering and design phase, Tubacex works hand in hand with Petrobras’s technical teams to develop bespoke solutions tailored to each well’s requirements. This process includes the design of CRA OCTG tubes, premium connections, and accessories optimized to withstand high pressure, high temperature, and corrosive constituents characteristic of the pre-salt environment.

Tubacex’s integrated production capabilities, with industrial plants in strategic locations, enable the manufacture of advanced corrosion-resistant materials, ensuring the highest standards of quality, traceability, and international regulatory compliance. In this context, the company highlights the in-house development and validation of ultra-high corrosion–resistant product technologies and premium connections that have become a reference solution for projects with the highest technical demands.

Beyond the product itself, Tubacex provides advanced logistics capabilities, managing in-country inventories, dispatch-to-well operations, and delivery tracking with full material traceability. This operational efficiency translates into reduced costs and risks for the client, improving product availability in remote and complex environments.

Once the system is installed, Tubacex offers specialized after-sales services, including on-site technical support, maintenance, repairs, and performance analysis. This continuous presence ensures proper equipment operation throughout its entire lifecycle, aligning with Petrobras’s goals for operational efficiency and safety.

This integrated approach is articulated through the “By Your Side” value proposition, which defines Tubacex’s relationship with its strategic customers.

Petrobras and Tubacex: a long-term strategic relationship

In recent years, Petrobras’s trust in Tubacex has been reinforced through several key contracts:

  • 2021: Initial award for the Búzios field, the largest offshore field in the world and Petrobras’s main development asset.
  • 2022: Initial award for Phase 4 of the Mero field, one of the most important fields in Brazil’s pre-salt.
  • 2024: Initial award for the Sépia-2 and Atapu-2 wells.

These wells, located at depths greater than 2,000 meters and connected to FPSOs at distances of up to 200 km from the coastline, present a top-tier technical challenge, one that Tubacex has successfully addressed with a differentiated technological offering. The scope includes CRA OCTG tubes, premium connections, and accessories, as well as all associated services, demonstrating the company’s capability to manage high-complexity projects in extreme offshore environments.

The pre-salt basin, considered one of the world’s leading energy production hubs, has become a true proving ground to validate the quality, durability, and performance of Tubacex solutions.

Petrobras’s recognition coincides with the development of the Brazilian company’s 2025–2029 strategic plan, which allocates 65% of CAPEX to exploration and production (E&P) projects in the pre-salt, given their high profitability and productivity. This context opens up new opportunities to further strengthen collaboration between both companies.

“This award not only recognizes the excellence of our products, but also the strength of a relationship model based on mutual trust, continuous innovation, and a shared commitment to sustainability,” concluded Josu Imaz, CEO of Tubacex.
